Functions

• Administrative, financial and technical control of department in district
• Achievement of area and production targets of all crops
• Preparation of detailed training schedule of all trainers for Rice, Wheat, Sunflower, Vegetables, Pulses and fodder crops and the dissemination of crop production technology through training, programmed in every village of the district
• Monitoring of Fertilizers & Pesticides Dealers for smooth supply of quality inputs
• The agriculture extension activities including:
  • Construction of Burjies along the roads and writing of motos
  • Laying out of Demonstration Plots of Rabi and Kharif crops
  • Conducting Farmer days / Kissan Mela at Markaz tehsil and district level
  • Conducting various types of surveys required for agriculture sector including agriculture machinery, assessment of crop damage during flood season and further any type of  assignment by government
  • Providing agriculture advisory services to farmers
  • Pest scouting of various crops by the field staff
• Implementation of crop production strategy including agronomy and plant protection prepared by provincial Agriculture Department
• Feedback of research problems to provincial Agriculture Department 
• Identification preparation and implementation of projects approved by the competent authorities

Services

• Advisory services to the farmers relating to production technology of all crops through individiual, groups, and  telephonic contacts
• Demonstration of crop production technology through agriculture field staff
• Provision of subsidized kitchen gardening seed kits
• Provision of dealers / vendors licence for pesticides & seed business
• Pest scouting and pest management advisory  services

Service Fee (If Any)

• Dealer / vendors pesticide dealership license fee is Rs.10,000/- for fresh applicant and Rs.5000/- for renewal of license
• Seed business dealership license fee is Rs.10,000/-

• The rules of recruitment & promotion as per Government of Punjab Agriculture Department Notification vide No.SO(A-II)9-22/2017
• The Agriculture Pesticide Ordinance 1971, amended up to 1997 and Rules 1973
• The Punjab Essential Article (control) Act, 1973
• Rules 5(i)(a) of Seed (Business regulation) rules 2016 by the Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension)

History

Since 1988 the post of Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension), Sialkot is working in the District under T&V Programme of Agriculture Extension. During 2001 the post was converted in District Officer Agriculture (Extension), Sialkot but in 2017 again converted to Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension), Sialkot with the new set up of provincial government.
